- Please respect the time & cost that goes into setting up for this day to create the absolute best images we can. No other cameras (including phone cameras) will be allowed on the set.
How To Pose
- First and foremost: Don’t wait to book a shoot until you’ve lost more weight or learned better tricks. Capture who you are NOW and, I promise, you won’t regret creating these images of yourself. You don’t need to be a trickster to look amazing. In fact, some of the best and sexiest poses are done around the base of the pole without any trick at all!
- The best way to approach posing is to come up with 3-4 tricks you want to show off (any level trick will do) as well as a handful of easy poses you can do if there’s time afterwards. You’ll be tired after putting your all into the tricks. So prepare to do the tricks first, then the easy poses. You can work through various tricks in a flow or do them one by one.
- It’s ALWAYS better to kill it with an easier trick than to not quite pull off a harder trick.
- When at all possible, learn how to do the tricks on static pole. It will save you the energy required to hold the trick long enough to spin into place. And it will ensure that you’re photographed at exactly the right angle!
- Because of how perspective affects your body shape in a flat image, poses will sometimes need to be adjusted in a wonky way that is technically wrong for the trick but will look perfect in the final photograph. We’ve been photographing all kinds of dancers for 20+ years and have used these tricks over and over to create stellar images that flatter each body in each position.
- Record yourself practicing the poses you’ve chosen and freeze frame your videos to get an idea of which poses you like most for your body and ability. Save a few screenshots to an album on your phone for quick reference in case you forget or get flustered while on set.
- Some tricks work best if you get into them as you normally do. Others will photograph better if you can kick or swing into them quickly for more force. We can capture just the right moment either way. So if it helps for you to swing into the move for maximum extension or strength, go for it!
- Don’t forget to point your toes!!!
- After all of that, if you think you can handle more direction… find the light. What we mean is, figure out where the light is and try to look towards it for most poses, even if your body is facing a different direction. This isn’t always possible nor always the goal from the photographer’s point of view. But it’s a great rule of thumb that will help create flattering images throughout your photoshoot.
